Depalpur is an ancient and historical city.

It remained a Provincial Head Quarter and an important fort during the Dehli Sultanate. Now it is a Tehsil Head Quarter of District Okara. Population of this city is nearly 01 Lac and it has rich and fertile soil where the latest and scientific cultivation is in practice. It is called land of potatoes and maize.

Govt. College (B) Depalpur was established in 1976 as an Inter College. The college was upgraded from Inter to Degree level on 01-09-1989. The college worked in different buildings and was shifted to present building at Basirpur Road in 1987. The college has an area of 15 Acres and 01 Marla consisting of Main Building, College Library, Staff Room Block, Science Block, Multi-Purpose Hall, Bachelor Hostel, College Colony, Beautiful Play grounds and Lawns. It has 17 Class Rooms, 07 Labs and 07 Offices including Principal Office. Sanctioned Strength of Teaching Staff is 34 (05 Associate Professors, 11 Assistant Professors, 15 Lecturers and Non-Teaching Staff is 23. (01 D.P.E., 01 Librarian).
